Jason K. Cordon graduated summa cum laude from Campbell University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2000, and cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law in 2003. He also passed the CPA exam in 2001. Upon completion of his legal studies, he practiced tax law as an associate at Paul Hastings, LLP, a leading international law firm. In 2010, he joined the law firm Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, an Am Law 200 firm headquartered in Atlanta. He was elected to the partnership in 2012 and was a partner in the tax, corporate, and real estate capital markets practices.

In 2016, Mr. Cordon co-founded Kowan & Cordon, LLP, a boutique law firm specializing in federal, state, and international tax; private equity; and business planning. His practice involved advising both U.S. and foreign clients regarding the international, federal, and state tax aspects of a variety of corporate and partnership transactions, including mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, dispositions, spin-offs, and restructuring. He also provided counsel regarding the formation of, and investment in, a variety of private equity and other investment funds, including major corporate venture capital, tax credit, and real estate transactions.

A significant portion of Mr. Cordon’s legal practice was concentrated on the representation of investors, developers, and syndicators nationwide in connection with tax-incentivized investments, including conservation-motivated real estate funds, low income housing tax credits, entertainment/film tax credits, and other state-specific credits.

In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Cordon has over 10 years of real estate development experience involving subdivision development, historic rehabilitations, and commercial development. To date, Mr. Cordon has been involved in the development of over $100 million of commercial real estate.
